General description
The Open Policy Session of the Mental Health Council of the National Advisor Advisor (NAMHC) provides an opportunity for the communities and priorities of the programs and priorities of the investigation of mental health research and the priorities of keeping informed about the current ones programs and priorities of the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH).
The council meeting will be available through the NiH Videocast website .
Planned presentations and discussions include:
- Shelli Avenevoli, Ph.D., interim director of Nimh, will present the director’s update on the state of Nimh, NIH and HHS.
- Susan Amara, MD, Scientific Director, Nimh Intramural Research Program, will provide an update on intramide activities.
- James Churchill, Ph.D., co-leader training team; The NIMH training team will provide an update on NIMH training awards.
- Rashaun Brown, MSN, specialist in clinical computer applications, clinical research office, will present the Triennal report on the inclusion of women and minorities in Nimh’s investigation.
- Nimh programmatic staff will discuss concepts for possible future financing initiatives.

Written comments can be sent to namhcpubliccomment@mail.nih.gov before 12:00 pm et on February 6, 2025. Comments must be 500 words or less. Written comments will be shared with the council members, but they will not be published or shared through VideoCast.

The NAMHC meets three times a year and advises the Secretary of Health and Human Services, the director of the National Health Institutes and the director of NIMH on all policies and activities related to the realization and support of health research mental, research training and other NIMH programs.
