Adrenal Cocktail Recipe and Why You Should Try It

You may have heard of adrenal cocktails and seen this “trendy” drink pop up on Instagram. Drinking an adrenal cocktail can help with the stress response and much more, and I’ll break it down in today’s post!

Hello friends! I hope you are having a wonderful week. For today’s post, I’m really excited to dive into today’s topic: the adrenal cocktail. It’s been lighting up my social media lately, so let’s talk about this intriguing mix and the benefits of an adrenal cocktail! Picture this: a delicious blend of refreshing coconut water (or aloe vera juice), tangy orange juice, and a pinch of salt.

Now you might be wondering what all the fuss is about. Well, it all comes down to our energy levels, chronic stress, and something called adrenal fatigue. You see, our adrenal glands play a key role in managing stress and maintaining our overall well-being. But sometimes these little gland warriors can get a little tired, leading to a drop in energy and a case of adrenal fatigue.

That’s where the magical blend of orange juice, coconut water, and sea salt comes in to save the day! This dream team combination is believed to support adrenal function and give our blood sugar levels a much-needed boost. Orange juice contains a large amount of vitamin C, which acts as a superhero for our immune system. Coconut water brings hydration to the party and replenishes those electrolytes like a champ. Last but not least, a pinch of sea salt adds a tasty touch and provides essential minerals that keep our adrenal glands dancing happily.

Now, it’s important to note that there are tons of variations of the adrenal cocktail. Some people like to add a dash of lemon juice or even a pinch of cinnamon for an extra kick. Feel free to experiment and make it your own!

I approached Missing in action about chatting about this on the blog and she co-wrote this post.

Adrenal Cocktail Recipe and Why You Should Try It

So what is an adrenal cocktail?

An adrenal cocktail includes a mixture of potassium, sodium, and vitamin C. Now, when it comes to adrenal cocktails, some people like to be a little adventurous with their mixes. Picture this: a delicious blend of potassium, sodium, and vitamin C, but with a creamy kick. That’s right, we’re talking about adding a splash of coconut cream to the mixture. It’s like going from a regular workout to a full-blown dance party for your taste buds!

But wait, there’s more! If coconut cream isn’t your jam, why not give coconut milk a try? This silky, slightly sweet alternative can give your adrenal cocktail a tropical vacation vibe. Imagine taking a sip of your coconut-infused elixir and feeling those anti-stress benefits wash over you like waves on a sandy beach. Ah, paradise in a glass!

It may be helpful in your routine if you:

  • They are tired all the time and lethargic.
  • Stressed out and looking for that extra caffeine to get you through the day
  • You have trouble sleeping and suffer from “tired but wired” syndrome

Just know that you are not alone if you experience these things and that we have (one) of the answers to help you get out of this hole.

So what are the adrenal glands?

the adrenals Sit just above both kidneys. These small glands produce hormones that regulate your stress response, metabolism, glucose, blood pressure, and immune system. When they pay taxes, the rest of you go under. The body craves homeostasis and balance. It’s also very good at adapting, so if you’re stressed in one area, it will downregulate in another area to compensate for what it needs to use to keep you alive and functioning.

  • Example: your cycle lengthens or your period disappears when you are under a work deadline or very stressed + overexercising + undereating = the body says “Reproduction is not a priority right now, so we can skip ovulation this month”.

When it comes to supporting our body’s balance, let’s not forget our hardworking adrenal glands. These little glands, located on top of our kidneys like adorable little hats, play a vital role in balancing hormones and keeping our internal systems running smoothly.

Now, here’s a fun fact: Did you know that adding healthy fats to our diet can support the health of our adrenal glands? Yes, it’s true! Foods like avocado, nuts, and olive oil are like a nutritious high five to our adrenal glands, helping them function at their best and keeping our hormonal harmony in check.

To provide the best balance to our body, regulate blood sugar, improve metabolic flexibility and increase insulin sensitivity, we must support it!

But how do we do that?

A small way is to add a small drink called adrenal cocktail. Provides essential vitamins and minerals, specifically potassium, sodium, and whole vitamin C, not ascorbic acid.

Adrenal Cocktail Recipe

Each “Adrenal Cocktail” recipe should offer approximately:

  • 375 mg of Potassium (ATP, electrolytes)
  • 460 mg sodium (electrolytes, blood pressure and energy)
  • 60 mg of whole vitamin C (our adrenal glands need more in times of stress and source of carbohydrates)

Adrenal cocktails can be a mixture of orange juice, coconut water, salt, and/or cream of tartar. And just when you think it couldn’t get any better, why not sprinkle on a tablespoon of collagen powder? It’s like an invisible superhero swooping in to support your joints, hair, nails and skin, giving you that extra boost for a truly great workout!

Some of my favorite recipes that are precise and help suit many people. can be found here. I ordered Redmond sea salt in Prosperous market <— my link gives you 40% off your first order. I also love Morley Robbins' work and you can Download your free PDF.

When should you drink an adrenal cocktail?

  • For breakfast! If you’re not a “breakfast” person and the thought of eating stomach food makes you green or you normally fast intermittently and consume caffeine all morning, this drink is a great way to jump-start your metabolism and fuel the fire.
  • When the power is low around 10 a.m. and 2 to 3 p.m.
  • Before bed, if you normally wake up between 2 and 4 am and can’t go back to sleep
  • Pre or post-workout

Make your taste buds tingle with a boost of health and flavor with adrenal cocktails!

And there you have it, my fitness loving friends! Adrenal cocktails are not just your run-of-the-mill stimulant drinks, oh no! They are the secret weapon to maintain blood sugar regulation and feel as energetic as a kangaroo on a trampoline. Not to mention they taste like orange cream, which is basically an explosion of flavor in your mouth that would make Willy Wonka jealous. These delicious concoctions are packed with the nutrients your body craves, from vitamin C to electrolytes, giving you a boost of vitality while pleasing your taste buds.

So the next time you need a sweet and spicy treat that will do your body good, mix up an adrenaline cocktail and get ready to feel like a superhero with a straw. Trust me, your taste buds and energy levels will thank you! Cheers to good health and tempting flavors!

Have you tried an adrenal cocktail before? Is this something you think you would incorporate into your routine?
