MQ Mental Health Research is delighted to announce that Andy Ratcliffe has been appointed as its new chief executive.
Andy brings extensive experience from his time as CEO of Impulse (a leading social mobility charity), deputy chief executive of Tony Blair’s Africa Governance Initiative and chief executive of Urban Health Impact.
Andy also has experience in politics, having previously worked in the Prime Minister’s Strategy Unit under Gordon Brown.
““I am delighted to be joining the MQ team,” he says.Andy says.
“I know the importance of mental health, from personal experience and from my career, understanding and addressing inequality.
The suffering caused by mental illness is enormous, but the amount of new research and innovation to improve things is small in comparison. That’s the challenge I want to help MQ face. “It’s also an opportunity because under-researched areas have the greatest potential to make breakthroughs.”
Andy will take up his role in January and will join MQ at an exciting time. The charity is offering more research partnerships than ever before, including projects examining psychosis and developing new solutions for depression, anxiety disorders and post-traumatic stress disorder.
