Here’s a summary of our holiday weekend!
Thanksgiving is more fun under a chandelier!
Remember we didn’t have one in our “dining area” before the renovation 🙂 This one is dimmed and was perfect for brightening the mood during our dinner. (Is this Iron chandelier which apparently is no longer sold but this seems the newest version.)
This year we had a nice Thanksgiving at our house again. I have never been more grateful for our new kitchen than this holiday season when counter space is at its max!
Green smoothies + peloton to start the day
Cooking time
I made my two favorite Thanksgiving dishes: cranberry sauce and sweet potato casserole. I love putting orange zest and a splash of bourbon in my cranberry sauce.
I used the Recipe for eating bird food this year with a pecan topping instead of marshmallows. I’m a fan! I used egg white, cow’s milk, and real butter instead of the vegan options in the recipe. It turned out great.
Keep the kids entertained
Dress the table
This silver plating from Goddards It was a LIFE SAVER for my tarnished silver! No scrubbing required, just soak it in and it will come out wonderfully clean!
Dress me up!
I’ve worn this dress two years in a row because Thanksgiving is the day I want to wear these colors the most! It is SO comfortable and a great price on amazon!
Before the game
Happy hour!
Happy hour for kids
Sparkling cider and grape juice!
Chef Mazen!
Since Grandma was with my sister this year, Mazen had to make macaroni and cheese in her honor. He grated all the cheese by hand and everyone was impressed.
Three generations of Donnes!
When the sun set, we took the turkey out of the oven.
The only group photo we have!
Peaceful cake
I waited until the entire kitchen was clean and tidy to eat my cake in silence at the end of the night.
Night night!
black friday
Chef Mazen made Kodiak pies again on Black Friday morning.
Covered with all the sugar!
In the meantime, I had a bowl of yogurt with cranberry sauce! My favorite way to use cranberry sauce along with cranberry sauce smoothies.
UVA Baseball
On Friday afternoon we went to the UVA basketball game. Go Hoos!
Unfortunately on Friday night I had a fever! I was SO COLD under my down comforter! I have no idea why. But that made the rest of the weekend very quiet. I’m not sure what it was? Maybe the flu mitigated by my flu shot?
