Are you looking for the best sports pants for women? I crowdsourced the KERF audience to discover their favorites! It’s the fit time of year! If you’re looking for some new workout gear to make this year your healthiest, this post features all my favorite leggings and joggers, perfect for life on the go!
10 Best Women’s Sweatpants
Let’s be honest, I live in tights thanks to the WFH life. Leggings are a staple of my “mom uniform.” I also try to be active daily, so sweatpants are practical for my lifestyle. It’s like when I wear a sports bra, I’m more likely to get extra movement throughout the day. Life in tights means more steps!
I know how that perfect pair of sweatpants can make you feel confident and comfortable during your workout. You know what I’m talking about…the couple you wish were clean when they’re in the laundry basket.
Over the years, I’ve tried too many different types of leggings to count, from twenty dollar Target leggings to the best of the best. Spoiler alert: some of my favorite leggings are under $30! I think my current favorites, however, are Nike!
If you’re like me and activewear rules your wardrobe, then you probably know that every pair of sweatpants has a purpose: some are better for biking, others are made to be worn on the yoga mat, and then there are those in the that you relax, live, travel or chase children. My favorites have to be high waisted and medium compression, but I also love loose joggers and high compression leggings for other activities!
I consulted the KERF audience to discover their favorite sweatpants for women. With a variety of budgets and activities in mind to inspire your workout wardrobe, here are your favorites (including my must-haves).
10 Best Women’s Sweatpants
In no particular order, here are the leggings and sweatpants that everyone thinks are the best of the best. Affiliate links included.
Lululemon Align II 25″
These are the popular super soft, high waisted, super buttery leggings that Lululemon is known for. They don’t have much compression and it feels like you’re not wearing anything! The waist will not sag at all. They are best to wear under tunics and dresses and for lounging; Additionally, they are favorites of yogis. I have a pair and think they are very comfortable, but personally they are not my best choice as I lean towards more compression. Align leggings come in many ever-changing colors and a few different lengths as well, including bermuda and runners – with the 25″ being a cult favorite.

Lululemon Wunder Train 25″ High Waisted Leggings
These have quite a bit more compression, compared to the Align style, and are super soft. Everlux material is ideal for high impact workouts. I love these for plyometric classes at the gym.

These are similar to the Align leggings, for a small amount of cost! They are very similar in fabric and fit, and are great if you are taller as they are longer or “full length” with a 28″ inseam. At $22.99, unbeatable! With almost 40,000 ratings on Amazon, it is clear that they are versatile and comfortable.

Colorfulkoala 7/8 Length Leggings with Pockets (Kath’s Favorite!)
And these, my friends, are my favorite leggings that I wear every week. I do everything with them, from riding Peloton to folding laundry to wearing them around town. The side pockets are perfect for storing your phone on the go and have the comfort of yoga pants while still having decent compression for everyday wear and workouts. The price can’t be beat either.

Athleta Salute Leggings
You all are my people because I love Athleta as much as you do! These high-waisted leggings were recommended several times for good reason. Designed for yoga practice, they provide support that feels like a gentle hug. These also have pockets to store your essentials and come in fun colors and prints. Plus, Athleta offers her styles in tall and petite sizes, making it easy to find the perfect fit.

Zella Live with high waist leggings
Moderately priced at just $59, these leggings from Nordstrom are flattering and, best of all, can be worn both at the gym and as casual attire for running errands, school pick-ups, and more. Brushed, sweat-wicking fabric dries quickly to keep you cool and comfortable. While I know many people love them and recommend them, I have to say that they are not my favorites. I bought and returned them a few years ago.

Vuori Performance Jogger
This is a pair that I haven’t tried myself, but Vuori is a brand that is quickly gaining popularity. Not only have I received personal recommendations for their Performance Joggers, but it seems like you all like them too. The Performance Joggers have a slim but relaxed fit with a slightly short leg (they also come in a long version), side pockets and a drawstring. The fabric is soft and dreamy. My VA, Hillary, says she won’t take it off! Pair it with a cute tank top and jean jacket for casual weekend wear, or wear it with a cozy sweatshirt for a movie marathon. They will be your new option.

Athleta Salute Jogger
Greetings, for the victory again. These joggers are super comfortable and are usually part of my weekend uniform. The ultra-thick waistband is amazing and they are the best for lounging. For a more sporty runner, the Venice Joggers They are my go-to for running errands. Both are loose and have pockets. I don’t often wear these styles as workout pants, but they’re certainly made with an active lifestyle in mind.

Nike Zenvy Soft Support High Waist 7/8 Leggings
These are my favorite Nike leggings because they have good compression and are a slightly more functional material. Love them! The seamless ankle cuffs are great, overall supportive and the waist height is perfect for me. They cost $100 so it’s an investment, but I love them for my gym classes!

Nike Yoga Dri-FIT Luxe High-Waist 7/8 Infinalon Women’s Leggings
They are VERY soft, have seamless ankles, and are the perfect waist height. As part of the Nike Luxe line, these leggings define luxury with soft Nike Infinalon fabric that gives you a soft, compressive feel while keeping you dry as you stretch and maintain your posture. They are marketed as lower compression, but I found them much more compressive than some of my older leggings. So I would say medium compression. They are good for classes OR good for lounging at home!
