Homestead Holiday • Kath Eats

I took Thomas on a vacation to Homestead for his birthday last week. Here is the summary of our one night stay including a day at the spa.

Vacation at home

Happy 42nd birthday to Thomas! I planned an overnight getaway to The farm for his birthday last Thursday. The focus of our stay was spas, as Thomas loves saunas and water treatments. The Homestead Spa features thermal aqua suites for men and women, as well as heated outdoor pools.

I booked our room for free using my Venture X Card$300/year travel credit + some points. (Learn more about how this works here!)

Thanks to Eileen for looking after Birchie tonight! We left Cville after leaving school on Thursday; It’s just under two hours away.

Everyone dressed for the holidays! (This tree is real!)

The farm spa

We headed straight to the spa so we could maximize our time there. If you book a spa service, you get access for the day. You can also purchase a day pass if you only want to use the pools.

Steam rising from the heated pool and jacuzzi.

After changing into our robes, we meet in the mineral bath which is fed by a natural hot spring. It was FREEZING outside with flurries of snow and strong gusts of cold wind, but the water was body temperature! It was freezing outside and we jumped into the jacuzzi before literally running to the sauna.

Happy Birthday!

Lunch in the Relaxation Room

After the sauna we went to the mixed relaxation room for lunch. We got takeout pizza and a salad from Woody’s since the spa restaurant had a limited menu. Luckily they offered to bring us Woody’s.

Aqua Thermal Suite

After lunch we headed to our own changing rooms to enjoy all the performances. There’s a warm “cocoon” room (108 degrees), a steam room, heated waterfall chairs, and sensation showers. What I enjoyed the most was the steam room because it was so hot! The showers were too cold for me.

Facial + Massage

After lots of water activity, we met again in the relaxation room before our facial (me) and massage (Thomas) at 3pm. Both were very good!

After the facial, I took a shower and we got ready to head to our room.

Our room

The Homestead generously gave us a room upgrade for the night! Our room was very spacious and beautiful. We also have champagne!

Jefferson Hall

We decided to go to dinner at Jefferson’s Lounge, which is not as fancy as other places. But first we took some photos with the giant tree!

out of fashion

To start, we shared kalamata olive bread and I had fried trout as a main course. Thomas had shrimp fettuccine. Both were good decent dishes.

All the chocolate for the birthday boy!

We saw Elf in bed after dinner – the best!

Lunch

For breakfast the next day we went to the Audubon dining room to enjoy their buffet. We filled up and called it brunch.

The last time we went to Homestead was in the summer with the kids, so now we’ve been there almost every season!

We will be happy to hear your thoughts
