HCA Healthcare Inc., one of the nation’s largest healthcare providers with 188 hospitals and approximately 2,400 outpatient care sites, is making an effort to integrate AI into healthcare and transform the way healthcare is performed and Document patient visits throughout the HCA Healthcare network.
HCA is working with vendor Commure to develop and deploy an ambient AI platform across its network. Commure recently acquired ambient AI company Augmedix.
The multi-specialty, standalone EHR platform, co-developed by Commure and HCA Healthcare, is designed to support critical workflows in emergency departments, hospital operations and ambulatory care. This solution is the product of a collaborative effort between Commure engineers, the Augmedix team led by company founder Ian Shakil, HCA Healthcare Care Innovation and Transformation, and HCA Healthcare clinicians.

The planned implementation of Commure’s ambient AI suite is expected to drive improvements in physician productivity, quality of patient care, and healthcare system efficiency.
Commure, based in Mountain View, California, is backed by companies including General Catalyst, HCA Healthcare and Sequoia Capital. Its offerings range from ambient AI and staff duress alerts to provider co-pilots, patient engagement tools, and revenue cycle management automation.
