A major player in the home furnishings sector is expanding its collection of products designed to better accommodate people with disabilities.
Pottery Barn this month introduced dozens of new pieces that include accessibility features such as integrated armrests, larger door handles, handrails and increased ground clearance to accommodate wheelchair users.
The offering is a collaboration with Michael Graves Design, a brand known for its accessible design. The new items complement Pottery Barn’s existing Accessible Home collection, which was introduced in 2022 and includes hundreds of furniture and home items designed with accessibility in mind.

The Michael Graves Design for Pottery Barn collection focuses on the bedroom and features 29 pieces ranging from beds and nightstands to dressers and chairs. Some items are modifications of Pottery Barn’s best-selling products, while others are one-of-a-kind. The designs are based on research conducted with adults aging in place and people with disabilities, Michael Graves Design officials said.
“Combining Pottery Barn’s design leadership for beautiful, quality home furnishings with Michael Graves Design’s award-winning expertise in accessible design has allowed us to create a collection that harmoniously blends aesthetic appeal and functionality,” said Monica Bhargava, president of Pottery Barn. “Collaborating with Michael Graves Design has deepened our commitment to accessible design with the goal of improving the lives of consumers living with disabilities, injuries or aging in place without sacrificing quality or style.”
The Michael Graves Design for Pottery Barn collection is available at Pottery Barn Website and in select stores.
