Grilled peaches recipe

This grilled peaches recipe is all you need. The “naked” part is that you can serve them without any toppings (don’t grill them naked!).

I fell in love with peaches when I lived in Athens, Georgia. Georgia is a peach country.

There wasn’t a peach stand I didn’t stop at. I don’t know how many I ate in the five years I lived in Georgia, but I’m sure they lost money when I left.

Chez Panisse, a very expensive restaurant in Berkeley, California, is famous for serving a naked peach for dessert. There are peaches that do not need any adulteration to be an absolutely sweet and perfect food.

Grilling peaches can make them even more perfect (if that’s even possible). I’ve been grilling healthy foods all summer long. Check out my post on how to grill vegetables and my post on how to grill watermelon to help you leave the burgers and hot dogs behind.

Now is the time to buy peaches. Go get them and, if you can’t avoid eating them right away, grill them.

I make sure my grill is clean of whatever I’ve been grilling on. I heat the grill for about 10 minutes on high and then rub it down with a wad of aluminum foil using tongs. I toss in the peaches and my family waits impatiently, “Are the peaches ready yet?”

Cooked peaches are bursting with flavor and have a pudding-like texture. I serve them with whipped cream or plain.

I sometimes use them as a side dish to anything else I’m grilling and they go well with savory dishes. Plus, I refrigerate them and eat them with yogurt for breakfast (if they’re going to be around for that long).

I’ve found trays of peaches at Trader Joe’s and Costco and don’t hesitate to buy them. If you can’t eat them fast enough, store them in the refrigerator so they ripen more slowly.
