Universal standard It remains one of my all-time favorite brands for its quality, commitment to keeping sizes 00-40 on all items, and great fit. I love that my friends of all sizes can shop the brand and want to do everything I can to get more people to shop with them. Shopping at size-inclusive stores when you’re your regular size is a great way to support your plus-size friends and help increase the chances that they have continued access to styles.
The 2024 Universal Standard Sample Sale runs from July 18th to August 5th. They’re offering up to 90% off hundreds of wardrobe staples in sizes 00-40. This promotion runs once a year for a limited time, so NOW is the time for shoppers to stock up on timeless staples from workwear to activewear.

Tips for buying at the sale of universal standard samples
To reduce frustration when shopping during sales, consider the following:
- Buy in advance: The earlier you shop during this sale period, the more likely you are to find styles in your size.
- Shop by size: Use the filters on the Sample Sale page to filter all items by size. This way, you’ll only see sale items that fit you. And make sure you know your US size (see below).
- Shop by price: If you’re on a budget, use the price filters to eliminate items that may still be priced too high.
- Don’t forget that it’s final sale: You can’t return these items, so keep that in mind before you do. I haven’t had any issues reselling items on the US B/S/T Facebook group or on Poshmark, but those are extra steps I’m sure not everyone wants to take.
About universal standard size
Right now, the United States has the widest range of clothing sizes (plus custom or made-to-measure options). They have sizes from 00 to 40, with incredibly detailed measurements for each item. The S, M, L, etc. labels are different than what you’re used to, so if you haven’t shopped at this store before, Please refer to the size chartI’m 5’10” and typically wear a size 28 at Lane Bryant and ELOQUII. My measurements are between a US XL and 2XL. In all of the photos below, I have size tags for reference. Questions about sizing? Let me know!
Universal standard sample sales recommendations
I have a lot of American items, so here are some of the sample sale items that I wholeheartedly recommend.
Palermo Divine Jersey Wrap Dress – I LOVE this dress and have worn it every week since I bought it. It’s comfortable, the fabric is fantastic, and the shawl is interesting, something I haven’t seen before. It comes in 4 colors.
Athena Divine Jersey Dress – Again, I wear this all the time and love it. It’s super cool when it’s hot, but also looks great with a denim or biker jacket. It’s extremely versatile and is available in 4 colors. I really want the yellow one! Long sleeve and V-neck version This dress is also on sale. I have it and I love it.
Havana Divine Jersey Dress – Are you seeing any trends? I love the divine jersey fabric they sell in the US! I received this dress 5 days ago and of course it’s on sale now (why is this happening to me?), but I highly recommend it. It’s very comfortable, but be aware that the back has a bow, which can be annoying if you have sensory issues. It comes in 3 colors.
Geneva’s iconic one-shoulder dress – I was very surprised to see this dress on sale. I thought it would still be at full price. It is very comfortable and I think it looks very elegant. It comes in 6 colors.
Ambroeus ruched poplin dress – I’m really bummed I couldn’t get the Kelly green color of this dress in my size, because I have the black one and wear it all the time. It’s a nice stretch poplin that’s nice and cool without wrinkling too much.
Bellport Satin Wrap Dress – Again, I literally got this last week in the Havana dress! It’s so, so beautiful. I waited a long time for the floral print sizes to come back in stock, but it’s also available in solid colors. Beautiful fabric, ruched back, and pockets. SIZE NOTE: Personally, I would suggest going one size smaller for this dress. I normally wear a US 2XL in dresses, but I wore an XL and probably could have gone with a L.
Stephanie wide leg pants—I think everyone should have these wide leg pants in chunky stretch knit. They come in various colors and lengths, but only a few combinations are on sale. When my friend and I went to the US for a stopover in Louisville, these were the first items she bought. She had never tried the US before and these pants were her gateway.
OTHERS:
- Anything in the Next to the Naked fabric For exercise: I have many models of body shorts, tops, shorts, etc. that I use regularly.
- Anything that is labeled Base – They are meant to be base layers, but I wear them alone because they are thin, hold their shape, and are incredibly stretchy.
- OhWarm clothing If you live in a cold climate, the US has some great outerwear and I saw that several of the puffer jackets, vests and down jackets were included in this sale.
