Today we are going to talk about one of my favorite foods: smoothies!

Smoothies are a delicious and convenient way to get a variety of nutrients into your diet, especially when you incorporate superfoods. These nutrient-dense ingredients not only enhance the taste of your smoothie, but they also provide a variety of health benefits. In this blog post, we’ll explore 20 superfood smoothie combinations that include ingredients like coconut, maca, goji berries, cacao, chia seeds, and spirulina to help you nourish your body and energize your day.

What are superfoods?

Superfoods are nutrient-dense foods, especially high in vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and other beneficial compounds. These foods are thought to offer exceptional health benefits beyond basic nutrition. While there is no official definition of superfoods, they are generally whole foods (such as fruits, vegetables, seeds, nuts, and certain grains) that are recognized for their high nutritional content and potential to promote health and well-being. Some examples of commonly recognized superfoods include berries (such as blueberries, strawberries, and acai berries), leafy greens (such as kale, spinach, and chard), nuts and seeds (such as almonds, chia seeds, and flax seeds), fatty fish (such as salmon and sardines), whole grains (such as quinoa and oats), and certain spices (such as turmeric and cinnamon). These foods are often praised for their antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and immune-boosting properties, among other health benefits. Incorporating a variety of superfoods into your diet can help maintain overall health and vitality.

Tips for making a better smoothie:

– Use frozen fruit instead of ice.

– Blend on low speed first, until all ingredients are incorporated, and then increase the speed. Blend for about 1 minute to get a super smooth smoothie. 🙂

– Use a Vitamix! The one I use and love is here.

– Add some extra nutrition. My FAVORITE way to do this is with Daily nutritional supportI drink it every day! You can check it out here and use FITNESSISTA10. It’s packed with vitamins and minerals, and has 15g of plant protein per serving.

– Add protein powder or yogurt to increase the amount of protein. I like Truvani and NOW Foods (code FITNESSISTA) the ultimate in protein powder.

The superfood smoothie combinations above are not only delicious, but they are also packed with essential nutrients to support your overall health and well-being.
