Healthcare Design’s annual Nightingale Awards program had an exceptional year in 2023 with a record number of 55 products entered. The annual competition recognizes contributions to the healthcare built environment through product design and innovation that promote healing and productivity.
Among the products that rose to the top in the 2023 competition were offerings designed to address the specific needs of behavioral health patients, as well as new features that meet sustainability, safety and staff efficiency goals.
Celebrating healthcare product design
The annual awards are presented by Sanitary design magazine in association with the Health Design Center and the Health Design Conference + Exhibition.
During the November conference in New Orleans, 14 jurors, including healthcare architects, interior designers and facilities executives, evaluated this year’s entries. Products must be displayed at the show and evaluated by juries before the showroom opens to attendees.
Submissions are judged on their contribution or solution to clinical or operational outcomes; aesthetics and innovation; built environmental solution, durability, functionality and quality; certification and industry standards; environmental sustainability; and list price.
