I’m sharing a quick and delicious recipe for a healthy salad dressing: honey balsamic!
Hello friends! Happy Monday! I hope you’re enjoying the day so far and had a great weekend! We had an amazing dinner at our friends’ house and spent the rest of the weekend doing housework and relaxing. On Saturday I took a three-hour nap, which was it. After a couple weeks of traveling and the pilot’s work weekend, it was our first *normal* weekend home in a month, so we really appreciated it.
Today I wanted to share with you my favorite salad dressing. I can’t believe I’ve been blogging for so long and haven’t dedicated an entire post to this dressing. This is my option. I use it for dinners, I make it ahead of time to enjoy throughout the week and it is always so easy and delicious. I usually don’t like the dressings that come with salad kits, so this is what I will often use to replace them. I like the flavor and ingredients much better!
If you don’t make your own salad dressing yet, definitely try this one. You’ll see how simple and delicious it can be 🙂 Let me know if you decide to add it to your rotation!
Honey Balsamic Dressing Recipe
Making your dressing ensures transparency about ingredients, helping you make informed decisions about what you consume. Honey balsamic dressing is a great example of a tasty but healthy option. With just a handful of pantry staples, you can make a sweet, tangy, and incredibly versatile dressing.
Ingredients:
1/3 cup balsamic vinegar
2/3 cup extra virgin olive oil
2 tablespoons of honey
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1 clove of garlic, minced
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
Step 1: The Foundation
Start by combining the balsamic vinegar with the extra virgin olive oil in a bowl. This dynamic duo forms the base of your dressing and provides a perfect balance of acidity and richness.
Step 2: Add the sweetness
Add 2 tablespoons of honey to the mixture, providing a natural sweetness that harmonizes with the acidity of the balsamic. Adjust the amount based on the desired level of sweetness.
Step 3: mustard
Add a teaspoon of Dijon mustard to the mixture. This not only improves the flavor profile but also adds a subtle touch that elevates the overall flavor.
Step 4: Season to Perfection
Season your creation with garlic and dried herbs, with salt and pepper to taste, ensuring the dressing strikes the perfect balance between salty and sweet.
Step 5: Emulsify with a Good Shake
Seal the ingredients in a glass jar, shaking them well. This emulsifies the mixture, creating a cohesive, velvety dressing that will coat your salad beautifully. I also love this salad dressing blender.
Storage and service:
Stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator, this honey balsamic dressing can last up to a week. Its versatility makes it ideal for green salads, vegetable bowls, or even as a marinade for roasted proteins.
