When was the last time you listened to a health podcast? How about a podcast about mental health?
There are literally millions of options. Which means there’s no shortage of health and wellness podcasts to enjoy (shout out to one of our favorites, The big bride showwith whom we have partnered several times to discuss women’s health issues).
To help you sift through health podcasts with topics that appeal to women and those assigned female at birth, here are five worthwhile options.
1. NPR Life Kit: Health
From chronic constipation to choosing the right sunscreen, NPR Life Kit: Health Explore everything related to your health. Most episodes feature scientific findings and interviews with healthcare providers (HCPs) and other experts. The informal tone makes heavier topics, like negotiating medical bills, easy to understand. There’s also plenty of fun (forest bathing, anyone?) and lifestyle advice (Michelle Obama’s advice on how to get out of a rut? Yes, please!).

2. Beyond the Heart: Improve Your Health, One Conversation at a Time
Nieca Goldberg, MD, is a member of HealthyWomen’s Women’s Health Advisory Council and a HealthyWomen board member (full disclosure), as well as a cardiologist, so she has her finger on the pulse of women’s health. (See what we did there?)
His new podcast focuses on all aspects of health and redefines how you view your body and the healing process. Episodes focus on a variety of topics, from the future of hormone therapy to how to recover from toxic relationships. Goldberg speaks with leading healthcare professionals, her colleagues, and innovators in women’s health about the latest research and important ways women can advocate for their health.

3. The laboratory of happiness
Happiness can be complicated. And surprisingly scientific. From genetics to relationships to the latest research, host Laurie Santos, MD, professor of psychology at Yale University, explores the science behind a happy life and the ways we can get and give happiness. An example: A recent episode offers tips for staying connected with friends, which can make you and a loved one happier. Tip: Dance to Pharrell Williams’ “Happy” between episodes for a sunnier exercise snack.

4. THE Menopause Podcast
Lauren Streicher, MD, is a menopause expert and medical director of Northwestern’s Center for Sexual Medicine and Menopause. So yes, she knows what she does, but she podcast It feels more like you’re listening to an aunt who has always had your back and has no problem telling it like it is. Streicher talks about the symptoms of perimenopause and menopause (hot flashes, weight gain, inability to orgasm, all the fun stuff) and offers advice and insights on the research (and lack of information out there) for women who They go through menopause.

5. Super soul
If you are a fan of oprah, his new podcast ticks all the boxes: familiar raspy voice. Comfort and ease talking about difficult topics such as trauma and racism. An inexplicable optimism despite such difficult topics. Oprah brings her stellar interview skills to conversations with health and wellness experts, best-selling authors, celebrities, and spiritual leaders. The conversations are meant to provide insight into life’s biggest challenges and help you live your best life.
