The weather is another issue that can impact when your Social Security benefit payment arrives. If you receive a paper check and bad weather causes shipping delays, you may not receive your benefit on the day it is supposed to arrive.

You can then use the Direct Express® card like a credit or debit card to pay bills, buy things, or withdraw cash.
Banks sometimes hold a portion of directly deposited money, so if you want immediate access to your Social Security benefit money, you can use the Direct Express® Card instead of depositing your funds into your bank account.
If your Social Security benefit payment does not arrive on time and you have an electronic deposit of your funds through a bank account or Direct Express® Card, contact SSA immediately. If you receive a paper check, wait a day or two to see if the check is just late. If the check does not appear, contact SSA.
If you are approved for SSDI back pay in 2024, you can generally expect your back pay to be deposited as a lump sum into your bank account or Direct Express® card approximately 60 days after SSA approved your claim for benefits. disability.
