This weekend, I took on the lovely challenge of the Run Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon, and let me tell you, it was a race to remember! As I laced up my running shoes (ridiculously early), I couldn’t help but feel the thrill of hitting the pavement alongside my fabulous running partner, Elise. But this wasn’t just any race: it was a magical journey through Disney’s Epcot, Hollywood Studios and beyond, while embracing the whimsical theme of Enchantment.
Encanto-inspired running outfits
Our team of runners not only ran; We brought the magic of Encanto to life. I channeled my inner Isabela Madrigal, while Elise She wore Mirabel Madrigal’s look, and Kelly embodied the powerful Luisa Madrigal. Imagine it: three sisters conquering the countryside in style, thanks to the magic of DIY. Sparkly skirts. From the half marathon theme like Encanto, these were popular characters seen all over the race track!!
Abundant photographs of characters
One of the highlights of the race? Definitely the character photos! We couldn’t resist stopping to capture the magic with iconic Disney characters. From hanging out with the classic duo, Mickey and Minnie, to sharing the field with Rafiki and Timon from The Lion King, each snapshot was a memory in the making.
But it didn’t end there. Miguel de Coco and Pluto, as well as the mischievous Chip & Dale, joined the party, adding an extra dose of fun to our race. Each photo session was an opportunity to pause, smile, and soak in the joy of Disney magic.
DIY Sparkly Skirts and Charming Booties
Our costumes were a labor of love, centered around super cute sparkly skirts. I made my DIY Isabela running costume and will share a “how to” in an upcoming blog post.
Let me take you on a journey through the enchanting course that took us from the Epcot parking lot to the finish line, while embracing the magic of Disney.
Starting the adventure: from the Epcot parking lot to the world showcase
Our adventure began in the Epcot parking lot, setting the stage for an epic race. We headed backstage to the Epcot cast member parking lot, covering the same ground as Friday’s 5K for the first 1.5 miles. The excitement was palpable as we entered World Showcase through Mexico, running around the lagoon and soaking in international flavors.
Running through the Hollywood studios
Leaving World Showcase, we ventured around the UK, turning left to go backstage and towards the picturesque area of Crescent Lake. Running along the BoardWalk, we enjoyed the panoramic views before heading to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The park welcomed us with open arms as we toured Hollywood Blvd, Gertie’s Lagoon, Echo Lake, and the immersive wonders of Galaxy’s Edge and Toy Story Land.
Sunset Blvd and Beyond: Tower of Terror to Osceola Parkway
The tour took us down Sunset Blvd, creating a cinematic experience as we passed iconic landmarks like the Tower of Terror. Exiting backstage right, we reached Buena Vista Dr, passing Coronado Springs Resort and Blizzard Beach. Our journey continued along the Osceola Parkway, with each step bringing us closer to the final goal.
The excitement of Epcot and the finish line is calling us
The final stretch included a run along World Dr, retracing steps for those who conquered the 10k. Taking the ramp onto Epcot Center Dr, we headed back to Epcot, circling around Future World. The magic intensified as we raced backstage once again, the finish line in the Epcot parking lot beckoning us with the promise of triumph.

Fuel for the finish line
Crossing the finish line wasn’t just about completing the kilometers; It was a celebration of victory. The race organizers spoiled us with a well-deserved medal, refreshing water and a replenishing Powerade. But the post-race gifts didn’t end there: a challenge medal, a snack box, and the runner’s essential: a banana.
Wine and Dine Half Marathon Finisher Medal
The Disney race finisher’s medal is always a topic. So this one had a super cute Mirabel Madrigal.
